Welcome to Middle Village Frame Shoppe NY ( MVFS)
In 1986, my husband, Anthony, and I married and aspired to open our own business. My background was associated with customer service and overseeing daily operations at Brooklyn Union Gas (now known as National Grid). Anthony worked as a salesman in an art gallery on 3rd Avenue and 54th Street in Manhattan. There, he became very knowledgeable in art and framing. Given our two backgrounds, opening a frame shop sounded ideal. Two years later, after much decision making and sleepless nights, we opened our business and used the initials of our first names, Anthony and Rosemary, to name our shop, A&R Framemakers.
For the first ten years, we operated as a wholesale business and welcomed two wonderful children. In 1998, we decided to make a change and become a retail store as we wanted to open our doors to the local community. We changed our name to The Frame Depot to let everyone know that we were a one-stop shop for their framing and art needs.
Today, we are proud to say we are still family owned and operated. We have met and worked with clients throughout New York, the tri-state area, and even some as far as Europe! Over the years, we have spoken about expanding the shop and possibly moving to a bigger location but always found our roots to be here in Middle Village.
As we approach our 30-year milestone in this business, we thought it best to change our shop name to pay homage to the community that established us.
Therefore, we are now known as the Middle Village Frame Shoppe. We look forward to having many more years of serving our lovely community and hope for continued business amongst our loyal customers as well as welcoming new clients.
